LECTER is a guitar based Rock Music project. It's got its inspiration from everywhere around the world and all kinds of music. The #1 goal of music is having fun! So call LECTER Alternative, think of it as Hardcore, Punk or even Comedy. LECTER was founded in 1991 (Germany RuhrArea Essen) doing gigs within their first month already. LECTER got quiet some respect (radio reviews) after a tour through german prisons in late 1993. After that LECTER were doing some club and open air gigs with several musicans 'til 1997. "Vinyl is a cool thing ... but mp3 files certainly are the postcard way to spread your music 'round the world!" said Lecter in late 2000. And just to find out how the music buissnes is doing, LECTER started their online career in Januray 2001.
Q:"Describe what or who LECTER sound like."
A:"Well well well...one of the hardest things
to do is to answer this question... we might
sound like some of the musicians who always
impressed us the most -Henry Rollins Band;
Zakk Wylde; White Zombie; Rage against the Machine;
Motörhead; Metallica; Hendrix and Joplin and so on-
but first of all we are LECTER
and that's what we sound like."
Q:"How do you create or compose your songs?
A:"The first thing is either an idea of a riff
a grooving bassline or any sort of some weird
guitar work, a rhythm that catches the ear
or just one lyrical line. If the composing
process dosen't start doing the bassline,
the bassline is at least the second step."
Q:"Aside of your live performance, some of your
songs do not sound as if they were composed
for a three man band. Give me an idea of
what instruments you use for recording your
songs."
A:"So this will sound like a countdown. LECTER
uses whatever's handy to produce some sound.
First we play guitars (electric and acoustic;
6 and 12 string) basses (electric and acoustic)
and drums. For certain sounds we need sequenzers,
samples and synths. Some of our instruments are:
Gibson LesPaul, Fenders, Washburn (acoustic),
Fender (precission) and an old Framus bass. We
do our recording using a Yamaha TG 100 expander,
Cubase, Cakewalk Guitar-Tracks, and a Tascam
4-trk traditionel tape recorder.
On stage we get reduced to what we are...
a three man band using g/b/d and that's it."
LECTER ist ein Rock Music project mit ordentlich hartem Gitarrensound. Jede Art von Musik inspiriert uns, wenn es gut tut sie zu spielen. Spass an der Musik ist unser oberstes Ziel ! Hör Dir LECTER an...was denkst Du? Ist unser Sound Alternative, oder denkst Du es ist Hardcore, Punk oder sogar Comedy. LECTER wurde 1991 ins Leben gerufen. Mit einigen Aufnahmen zog Lecter der Songwriter los und stellte eine Band aus drei Musikern zusammen. Erwähnung fanden LECTER nach einer Tour durch Ruhrgebiets Knaeste im WDR Hoerfunk. LECTER spielten bis 1997 mit wechselnder Besetzung die üblichen Gig-möglichkeiten (Partys, Strassenfeste, Kneipen/Clubs) im Ruhrgebiet.
