Picture a boy group with two fancy guys in their early twenties, fresh looking with pumped-up bodies and strong hair. Their dance style is hot: weaving arms, athletic jumps and super fast steps with baggy street-style dubs. Wearing white singlets and posh sneakers, they sing in high eunuch voices about money, fame, fast sports cars and girls. And now picture the complete opposite - thats Malaxe:
Two legendary chaps with thinning hair, still pretty young on paper, but you can tell theyve been around for a while. Their dance moves are somewhat reduced to an absolute minimum, often comprising of a rhythmic nodding only. But wait, Phil is occasionally attacked by the daemons of hiphop-dance and performs some incredibly fast steps you might be able to witness this at some of their live shows.
Their musical and other influences are somewhat obvious and primarily include Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Portishead, Bob Dylan, Massive Attack, Radiohead, Tindersticks, U.N.K.L.E., Element of Crime, Tom Waits, The Cure, Ennio Morricone, Brett Easton Ellis, Michel Houellebecq and Philippe Djian.
